Luke Welmerink is an associate attorney with Anderson, Dorn & Rader, Ltd. and practices primarily in the areas of estate, tax, and asset protection planning. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Welmerink gained valuable experience working in finance, accounting, and tax planning matters. His experience helping individuals and businesses in these areas provides him with a unique set of skills to help his clients achieve their wealth and legacy planning goals with Anderson, Dorn & Rader, Ltd.
Mr. Welmerink began his professional career as a small business specialist for Wells Fargo Bank, N.A., where he advised small businesses and their owners on finance matters. Seeking to broaden the range of services he could provide to clients, Mr. Welmerink returned to school to obtain his law degree, and shortly thereafter his LL.M. degree in taxation, from Golden Gate University School of Law in San Francisco, California. In the bay area, he joined PricewaterhouseCoopers, LLP in San Francisco where he consulted on international tax matters. After relocating back to his hometown of Reno to raise his family, he joined the firm and dedicated his practice to teaching and helping clients avoid taxes, unnecessary legal fees, and time consuming probate matters.
Mr. Welmerink attended St. Mary’s College of California as an undergraduate, where he obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration. He continued his education at the Golden Gate University School of Law in San Francisco, California, where he earned his Juris Doctorate degree in 2011 as a member of the Jesse Carter Society, and his LL.M. in Taxation degree in 2013.
Mr. Welmerink is an active member of the Nevada State Bar, the California State Bar, and the Washoe County Bar Association. He is also a member of the Young Lawyers and Probate and Trust Law Sections of the Nevada State Bar.
As a third generation Nevadan, Mr. Welmerink loves spending time with his wife and soon-to-be 3 daughters in Reno and Lake Tahoe. He is proud to volunteer his time as the Chairperson of the Young Leaders Committee of the Boys and Girls Club of Truckee Meadows, the Northern Nevada Chairperson of the Serving Seniors pro-bono efforts with the Young Lawyers Section of the Nevada State Bar, and as the Chairperson of Mater Academy of Northern Nevada, a Nevada public charter school. In his free time, he enjoys playing golf, DIY projects (remodeling and landscaping his house), and playing guitar.
